Run the Wild Horse Loop Tour. Part of the Green River Art Festival/Riverfest. A challenging course on improved dirt road. Elev. 6000'-7500'. Aid stations every 2 miles. This year it will be an up and back course starting at the island. Long sleeve windshirt, finisher medal as part of registration fee. This year the shrimp boil is optional. A ton of food for the price. There will be vendors available after the race offering BBQ, etc. along with the Brew Fest. There will be fireworks on Friday,live music both days. 24 hour sculpting, 2-D and photo competition, bronze unveiling.Dog show and Horse Poker Run and Horse Endurance. Riverwalk. Food. Join the fun.

Both marathon and 1/2 start at 6:30am. Packet pickup Fri.in front of Expedition Island 4-8pm.Due to busing problems the course will be an up and back this year. The races will start and finish right before the island. Course is on the Wild Horse Loop Tour. Race elevation at the start is 6100'for 2 miles then climbs to 7500' over next 2 miles. Moderate ups & downs(but altitude may make it harder) but fairly level until approx. mile 13.1, then check-in and turn around for a mostly downhill run to finish before Expedition Island on the Green River in the middle of town, ele. 6100'. Some Porta-potties on course. Improved graded road, manned aid stations every 2 miles. You may see wild horses, antelope, elk, nice high plains desert vistas. No trees. Great optional pre-race Cajun shrimp boil(sausage, potatoes,corn-on-cob), Part of River Festival, fireworks friday night, live music, beerfest,few spectators, riverwalk,BBQ and other vendors available post race, 24 hour sculpting and much more. |

Race elevation at the start of 1/2 is approx 6100' on city streets for the first 2 miles,then a climb up the canyon for 2 miles to 7500' then rolling b/w 7300'.Moderate ups & downs(but altitude may make it harder) until approx. mile 6.1, then downhill to finish right before Expedition Island on the Green River in the middle of town, ele. 6100'.Porta-potties at 1/2 start and mile 6.
